Priya Singh is an award winning South African artist who has worked with many of the biggest names in Bollywood. She has performed to several sell-out concerts in South Africa and her music continues to grow in popularity. Her music covers several genres including popular Bollywood golden oldies, romantic songs, pop-rock and the ever-popular South African 'chutney' style! 

Currently based in the UK, Singh has been performing as a vocal artist since the age of 10 and has featured in live concerts world-wide, and recorded for television as well as radio. Priya started off her singing career as a child star and with a lot of dedication she has certainly made it all the way to the top! She stole the hearts of many after singing the winning song at the “Radio Lotus Impressions” song competition in 1992 at the age of 12 years and once again in 1998. This talented star gets regular coverage on national radio stations and various television channels across South Africa. Priya has performed in front of thousands and her fan base is steadily growing. 

Priya shared the stage with internationally acclaimed Bollywood singer Alka Yagnik during her SA tour in 1996 and 2005 as well as performed at the “Awesome Foursome” concert held in South Africa with the likes of Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukherjee, Juhi Chawla and Akshay Kumar at the Absa stadium, Durban in 1999. Her debut album “Manzil”, launched in May 2002 has proven to be successful on the airwaves of all major radio stations in South Africa and was the first ever South African music concert to be televised for Sony Entertainment Television Asia which was broadcast internationally. 

 

Priya featured on a multi-cultural album of South African lullabies (Thula Project) and her music features in the movie 'Broken Promises'

Priya started 2009 on a high note when Lotus FM announced her song "Raste Mein" from album "Pyaar Rocks" as the number one South African song for 2008. 

"Pyaar Rocks" is Priya's first recording in India. Priya & her talented husband Mershen Ramaloo, who is also the music director of "Pyaar Rocks" were overwhelmed by the positive response to the album. The music on this album is produced by an entourage of arrangers and musicians from India, lead by Aabir Mukherjee (Music Supervisor for T-Series), assisted by Ravi Desad and programmed/sequenced by the talented Rajiv Bhatt who at the time of the recording was the lead keyboard player for one of India's most popular playback singers, Sonu Nigam. The album was recorded by the proficient Rahul Sharma at a studio owned by popular sound engineer, Satish Gupta, a recipient of many IFAA awards and other accolades.

Mershen Ramaloo is a talented musician and music director who has been a part of the music industry for over three decades. He is also a successful entrepreneur who is well known in South Africa for his promotion of both local and international artists, hosting popular singers like Alka Yagnik, Abhijeet Sawant, Kunal Ganjawala and Shweta Pandit.

 

In more recent years he has directed and featured in Priya's latest album Pyaar Rocks which proved to be a huge success in South Africa. He is a versatile musician who has covered many genres of music including Bollywood, Indian semi-classical, Ghazals, Pop, Cantopop, and Rock. 

 

Mershen is reknowned for his musical arrangement with many popular bands (Luxmi Melody / Lotus FM Showband / Tansen Nepaul Showband / Mershen Ramaloo Orchestra) in South Africa as well as recognised for his work for radio and television productions.  He was the lead keyboard player for rock band "Wayrock" whilst residing in Hong Kong.
